In Maryland, there are three ways to obtain an official accident report: email, mail, and in person. This ensures it’s easy to get your accident report no matter what method you prefer.
Requesting an accident report by mail
Before you submit your request, contact the Maryland Central Records Unit at (410) 537-7710 to check on the availability of your report and the amount of the fees you will need to pay to obtain a copy of the report. Once you have done that, download the Report Request Form and complete it.
Mail the Report Request Form along with a check or money order for your fees made payable to “MDTA” or “Maryland Transportation Authority”, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the following address:

If a digital copy of the report is satisfactory for your needs, you can request a report via email. When you do it this way, rather than requesting a paper copy, there is no fee involved. To do this, you need to complete the Report Request Form and email it to [email protected].
Alternatively, instead of completing the Report Request Form you can email [email protected] with as much of the following information as possible:

- Type of report you’re requesting (collision)
- Date of incident
- Location of incident
